Graphic organizers are not new. Teachers have used most of these strategies before. Unfortunately, graphic organizers have used only sporadically, and often only in the form of worksheets that students complete independently. Recent research has shown that if the use of graphic organizers is expanded, they can have a powerful effect on student learning.
